Roc Anti-Aging Skin Care Review
Overview
According to the Roc Skin Care website, these products were designed through a partnership with dermatologists to create a skin care line that claims to be pure, active and effective at turning back the clock on your skin. There are multiple purposes for the various Roc Skin Care products available, but all are meant to bring your skin to a state of improved health. The company was founded by Jean-Charles Lissarrague and a group of dermatologists in France in 1957. Today, the company name is synonymous with a wide range of skin care options for women in both the United States and Europe. However, all products seem to be formulated around rather dated retinol-based technology.
The Roc skin care anti-wrinkle line consists of a daily moisturizer with an SPF, a night cream, an eye cream, a deep wrinkle serum and a hand treatment. All of the products use stabilized retinol as their main active ingredient, which is an older ingredient that we will look at in greater detail later in this review. The products all claim to “stimulate skin renewal and reduce the appearance of wrinkles”. Roc Skin Care products are sold through a variety of stores and online retailers. At the time of this review, we were unable to find customer testimonials or a money back guarantee policy on the company website.
Product Details
The ingredient list for the Roc Deep Wrinkle Serum includes: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Methyl MEA, Citric Acid, Dimethicone, Nylon 12, PEG 12 Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Sclerotium Gum, Laureth 23, Hydrolyzed Wheat Gluten, Fragrance, Bisabolol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Laureth 4, Healianthus Annuus Seed Oil (Sunflower), Ethylparaben, Polyacrylamide, Allantoin, BHT, Disodium EDTA, C13 & 14 Isoparaffin, Polysorbate 20, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc, Gluconate, Retinol, Ascorbic Acid, Laureth 7, Sodium Methylparaben, Sodium Propylparaben, Sodium Ethylparaben, Yellow 5.
The first thing that strikes us is the lack of any quality active ingredients near the top of the list, leading us to believe that any active ingredients that are in the formula are found in amounts too small to have much effect. The other noticeable element to this list is the many parabens that are included. Parabens have proven to be potentially dangerous and carcinogenic, leading many consumers to hunt for products that are paraben free. Retinol appears to be the primary active ingredient in this formula. Retinol is known for improving the appearance of the skin and reducing the look of fine lines. However, getting enough retinol in a mix to have the desired effect can also cause skin irritation. Retinol has not been proven effective in reducing the appearance of deeper wrinkles.
The Good
- The Roc anti-wrinkle products do contain stabilized retinol.
- The products are reasonably priced and easy to find.
The Bad
- None of these anti-wrinkle products contain advanced proven ingredients like matrixyl , argireline or collagen.
- We were unable to find customer testimonials or a money back guarantee.
- Roc Skin Care products do contain potentially dangerous parabens.
The Bottom Line
Roc skin care consists of fairly standard skin care products that include basic ingredients. While you may see some positive results with Roc Skin Care products, there are other skin care options available that contain more effective ingredients for a better value.
